Player Career
Rolands Smits began his professional career in 2012 with the second team of Spanish side Fuenlabrada, competing in the EBA League. One season later, he signed with Avila CB, and during the same season, he was promoted to Fuenlabrada’s senior team, where he played until the end of the 2016–17 season. In September 2017, the Latvian forward signed with another Spanish club, FC Barcelona, but spent the season on loan at Fuenlabrada. Smits officially joined Barcelona’s roster for the 2018–19 season and played there for four consecutive seasons. In the 2022–23 season, he transferred to Lithuania’s Zalgiris Kaunas, where he spent two seasons before joining our team ahead of the 2024–25 season.
In the 2016–17 season, while playing for Fuenlabrada, Rolands Smits was named the EuroCup "Rising Star." With Barcelona, he won the Spanish League championship in the 2020–21 season, and lifted the Spanish Cup in 2019, 2021, and 2022. The talented player also won the Lithuanian League championship with Zalgiris Kaunas in the 2022–23 season, and captured the Lithuanian Cup in both 2023 and 2024.
Smits celebrated his first trophy with our team at the start of the 2024–25 season by winning the Presidential Cup.
